Radiosurgery: The LINAC Scalpel in Action


The Linac Scalpel (or stereotactic linear acclerator) operates by producing multiple precise arcing beams of X-rays focused on an intracranial lesion. This picture demonstrates how the patient is fixed in place with the localizing ring while the Linac Scalpel arcs around his head.
